The Winnetka Caucus Village Candidate Committee has announced its selection process and resulting candidates for consideration as Winnetka Caucus slated candidates for Village Trustee.

The Winnetka Caucus Committee has worked hard to develop a set of criteria for selecting candidates for the Trustee positions, moving purposefully through the process. We have:

  1. Discussed local governance in general, roles and responsibilities of board members, using the outline and report from a forum on governance involving all Winnetka boards, and writings from prior Winnetka leaders
  2. Reviewed the specific responsibilities of municipal/village officers, using orientation material from the Illinois Municipal Officers’ Association
  3. Conducted interviews and shared the perspective of current Trustees about the “ideal” characteristics of a board member, and what skills and abilities would be helpful to have on the new board
  4. Publicized the open positions, reaching out to the community to generate interest in submitting applications.

We have worked extremely hard to develop a broad pool of candidates, following up on all of the recommendations that were made to us. Our process is not about where candidates stand on issues but on how they approach policy making, problem solving and their role and responsibilities as representatives of the community. We used an evidence-based decision making process to reach our final decision on candidates.

We are proud to present our slate of Candidates, as representatives of the entire village, in the spirit of productive civil discourse and mutual respect.
